Fellowship in Hand Surgery & Peripheral Nerve Surgery

Royal North Shore Hospital

Six and twelve month Fellowship positions are available for suitable applicants. Applicants should be:

  • Medical practitioner registered, or eligible for registration (overseas trained candidates) in New South Wales.

  • Having been accepted onto a recognised higher surgical training programme.

  • Permanent residency or eligibility for Occuptional Training Visa (overseas trained candidates).

  • Demonstrated clinical practice at a high standard.

  • Demonstrated participation in teaching and training at undergraduate and/or post-graduate level.

  • Preparedness to participate in on-call rosters

  • Evidence of organisational commitment

  • Excellent communication skills (including fluency in spoken English).

  • Evidence of contribution and commitment to research.

Hand Fellowship

St Luke’s Hospital and Sydney Hospital, Sydney, Australia

The Departments of Hand Surgery at St Luke’s Hospital and Sydney Hospital offer a fellowship in hand surgery to suitably qualified applicants which provides clinical experience at each of the two hospitals over a 12 month period.

Applications are invited for the the periods from January/December & July/June.

The fellowship is suitable for surgeons who have completed training in orthopaedic, plastic or general surgery and who intend to pursue a full time career in hand surgery. Full qualification in one of the above surgical fields is essential. Applicants must have some previous experience in hand surgery and an interest in clinical research. The successful applicant will undertake clinical duties at each of the two hospitals and will be expected to complete a research project ready for publication during the 12 month period.

Medartis Hand Fellowship

South Western Sydney Hand Centre, Fairfield

A 6 month fellowship position is available with a possible further 6 month extension. There is a 1 in 3 on-call with extensive exposure to hand trauma (20+ new referrals per day). The fellow is under close supervision by VMO’s (3 plastic surgeons and 2 orthopaedic surgeons). The weekly timetable can be tailored to the candidates training needs with excellent base salary.

This position would suit either post FRACS surgeon seeking further training in hand trauma or a trainee (plastics/orthopaedics) with a genuine commitment to becoming a hand surgeon.
